3.1.2 Implementation
Testing
All students from both intervention schools and control schools have been tested four
times during the project; before the activities started (benchmark), after the 1st year, after the
2nd year, and one final time 1 year after the activities have ended. The teachers and parents
in Hungary completed the Behaviour Rating Inventory of Executive Function - (BRIEF) for the students in both the control and intervention groups, and the students completed the digital test Yellow/Red, led by a test assistant. In Norway, the students completed the digital test Yellow/Red, led by a test assistant.
The intervention
The intervention involved a big upheaval in everyday life for the classes in the intervention group, while for the control group it meant having teaching as normal. In the intervention schools, artists were employed joining the teachers in leading predetermined arts activities with the students in sessions of 90 minutes, 2 days a week. On the 3rd day of the week, the teacher conducted partially predetermined arts activities with the students on their own, also in sessions of 90 minutes (see figure underneath). The students received a total of 270 minutes of arts activities each week, 48 weeks, across four semesters.
