The End - or is it really over?
“I loved these classes, but unfortunately, it’s over.” This is a quote from one of the children taking part in the Art of Learning intervention ending the spring of 2023. But the Art of Learning journey has not come to an end with this. With our project behind us, we are left with schools, students and teachers who are eager to continue using the Art of Learning methodology, parents willing to pay for artists’ continuous contribution in school, and a project partnership that has grown stronger and are committed to embrace new partnerships and further develop the Art of Learning.
Our plans include, and the list is not exhaustive:
» Whole school Art of Learning anchoring approach: development of an anchoring model in existing Art of Learning schools, to maintain and increase the Art of Learning methodological competence in the whole school, and end by certifying the schools as designated Art of Learning schools.
This model is piloting in two schools in Norway in 2023–2025 (NYKÅL), with financial support from ICC and The Bank Foundation DnB, Norway.
» Art of Learning in transition from kindergarten to school: expanding the programme involving 4-5 year old children in kindergarten, enhancing the transition from kindergarten to school through Art of Learning. This model is under development in Budapest, Hungary in 2023.
» Replicating the Art of Learning programme: we invite new countries and new socio-cultural contexts to replicate our intervention as is, to further strengthen the evidence of its effect. Through applying for Erasmus+ funding (Art of Learning BRIDGE, march 2024), a slovakian partner will join the force.
» Art of Learning in Teacher Education: development, implementing and assessing an Art of Learning training course in initial, post graduate and further education teacher training. This will be an important step to target more students on a larger scale, and will make the Art of Learning more sustainable in the longer term.
With this model in mind, we are creating a wider consortium, applying for the Horizon CL2 - 2024 - Transformations - 01-08: Arts and Cultural Awareness and expression in education and training in February 2024 with the project called TREACLE.
Our journey continues as we strive to build even more understanding of the importance of, and how to support and develop arts and creativity in children and young people, aiming to create even more opportunities for the growth and development of young minds.
